Here we go, straight from the horse's mouth (in this case, that would be Justin Smith, a developer for Facebook) :
This spring, Facebook will be launching a redesigned profile aimed at making things simpler, cleaner, and more relevant, while still giving you control over your own profile. We want profiles to be a destination to learn about and interact with your friends.
Its about damn time too. Those incessant applications and the whole 'bushwacking' look of Facebook was getting pretty annoying. Apperantly, as the developer(s) claim, our dear ole' FB is going to have whitespaces this time, lots of it ( Screencap, please).
The navigation system is going to go through some swell redesigning too. Instead of the ugly, ugly profile section, the site will divide its existing profile applications into five default tabs, including Feed, Info, Wall, Photos, and Boxes. That means no more scrolling down through thousands of lines of javascript powered cra* to write on the 'normal' wall of your friends. Amen to all that. In the mean time, for a quick sneak peak of the whole shananigan, keep your eyes peeled on the page of Facebook profile preview page and its albums(didn't know any such thing existed).
