'Bunch of me

you know..just a bunch + I'm finally into blogger

lina Although it can arguable  be claimed that there are some irresistible softwares out there which were natively built for running on Linux environment, an initiative to make them compatible for Windows or OSX has rarely been taken. Master coders and uber-software gurus have often taken the liberty to port the software on their own, manipulating a string of code here and a string there. However, there is an alternative for the ultimate noobs (like myself) too. Its called LINA, and as the developers claim,

With LINA, a single executable written and compiled for Linux can be run with native look and feel on Windows, Mac OS X, and UNIX operating systems..LINA brings Linux everywhere, from the command line to GUI and web applications.

Those who have dug a little deeper into the world of Linux are pretty familiar with WINE, or Windows Emulator For Linux (the creators of WINE, however called it ' Wine Is Not an Emulator ', thus the peculiar name ). LINA does the exact same thing for Windows or OSX, it lets you run Linux applications natively on your OS of choice ( I'm not going to argue about which OS is better though). Its as simple as that. Interested to try out some of those elusive, 'still yet to be ported to windows'- linux apps (ex: amaroK) ? Then give LINA a whirl.

  1. You should have mentioned that it will download another 100mb after the initial download of 43mb installation file…crap I can install linux twice by the time that happens. But since people outside this 3rd world country read your posts it can be pardoned…do remember to mention the size next time buddy

I also listen to Jazz and Blues (like those of Bob Seger and Louis Armstrong) profusely. If my rants interest you in the least detail I'd advice you to stick around .
